The Chukchi harness is designed primarily for dogs with a narrow chest, typical of the original Husky, or racing, dogs. It is also very suitable for Alaskan Huskies. With a Y-neck harness, the harness must be very snug so that it does not turn and burn under the armpits, which can cause discomfort for the dog. The Chukchi type harness allows the dog to run without any constraints.

The Chukchi harness has many advantages:

-Very few restrictions on the dog's movement. For more information on this subject, read the veterinary study ‘Effects of restrictive and non-restrictive harnesses on shoulder extension in walking and trotting dogs’ by Lafuente et al. In English V.O.

-No harness injuries, especially eliminates armpit burn, typical of Y-necks.

-Dogs with a tendency to crabwise naturally return to the axis.

-No pressure points on the hips.

-No loss of power, unlike other types of short Y-shaped harness, which prevent the dog from breathing properly by rising to the throat.

-It is difficult for the dog to get out of the harness on its own. However, it is very easy for the musher to put on and take off.

-Light harness: less than 140 grams in the largest size.

-Not suitable for all body types. The dog's forelegs must be a minimum angled.
